Our Mission

Doris Banham Dog Rescue is committed to unconditional true rescue, regardless of breed, age, or veterinary conditions. We exist for the dogs that others turn away. The urgent and overlooked, the old, and the misunderstood. As a volunteer-led rescue funded entirely by donations, every penny goes directly to the dogs in our care. We provide safety, medical treatment, behavioural support, and the time each dog needs to recover, without discrimination and without compromise.

Every dog deserves the chance to heal, to be safe, and to be loved.

Doris Banham Dog Rescue

Doris Banham Dog Rescue saves dogs from being put to sleep by police, council pounds, vets and social services. Other charities often pass by the sick, old and those needing training. Doris Banham is the last hope when our best friend has no one else to call on.

We are very honored to have won the Yorkshire Prestige Award.

Doris Banham Dog Rescue was highlighted as a lifeline for these "death row" dogs, stepping in to pull animals directly from council facilities to save their lives.

We were featured in the BBC Panorama documentary "Britain’s Unwanted Pets." The program highlighted the charity's crucial work in council pounds, saving lost and abandoned dogs from the threat of being put to sleep.
